Jayne V. is a Radical Remission survivor of stage 1 bladder cancer. Diagnosed at age 53, she first used conventional medicine (surgery) alongside complementary methods, but was doing so well that she decided to use only complementary methods to try to shrink her remaining 4 tumors, which she did. Today, more than 4 years since her diagnosis, she currently has no evidence of cancer.
Here is her story, in her own words:
IN TERMS OF…
DIET: I do not eat refined, packaged foods at all. organic veggies and fruit when I can. I have been drinking 1-2 cups of Kefir on a daily basis for the past 8 months. I do not eat wheat as I am intolerant but can eat gluten.
HERBS/SUPPLEMENTS: Apricot seeds, Amygdalin B17, Marine Phytoplankton 5000, Turmeric Extract 1500mg daily, Enzymes, Zinc, Vit D3 10,000IU daily, compounded Selenium.
MANUAL THERAPIES: Chiropractic alignment and ART for past year on bi-weekly basis
MENTAL TECHNIQUES: In quiet moments, especially month prior to quarterly cystoscopies, I envision a clear, healthy looking bladder. I pray often. I try to “laugh” often!
CREATIVE THERAPIES: I paint but not often. Mostly in winter months.
THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONAL CHANGES: I cry easily and can be very emotional about all things in my life. I have also begu a support group for local bladder cancer patients.
LETTING GO: I no longer dwell on things I used to be totally bothered about. I try to be relaxed about any issues.
INTUITION: I felt that the constant cutting and burning of my recurrences was dealing only with the symptom and that I needed to heal my whole body. I believed and still do, that what I’m taking and eating caused me to heal. I will continue protocols for remainder of life.
WILL TO LIVE: My will to live “healthy” increased!
CONTROL: I really had no control at the beginning after initial diagnosis, but as time went by, I started to read more, research more, and got serious over what went into my body. When my first 3 tumors disappeared, my uro told me to keep doing what I was doing, and allowed me to cancel his recommended TURBT for the remaining 4 tumors, which of course I did. 🙂
SOCIAL SUPPORT: My husband thought I was spending too much money on supplements, the head of my Canada-wide bladder cancer support group thought I was “playing” dangerously with my cancer and constantly pushed for me to do conventional, most everyone listened to what I was doing with raised eyebrows…. 🙂 Now, they are all looking at things differently! My husband has begun changing his diet and takes what I do seriously. He really did not believe that my tumors would dissapear on their own and was majorly supprised at the outcome! 🙂
OTHER: Diet can make or break us! My immune system was very crappy as I “caught” anything going and had been on antibiotics over and over. Just over a year ago I did a six-week round of BCG treatments which my urologist said didn’t take…. BCG is often used to jump-start one’s immune system to fight the bladder cancer. Since diagnosis, I’ve changed my diet, but only most recently over the past 7-8 months have I learned what to do for my immune system with probiotic foods such as Kefir and Kimchi. I attribute these to my remission alongside my supplements named above.
IN TERMS OF WHAT MIGHT CAUSE CANCER, I’m a firm believer that cancer is a symptom of something gone wrong in our bodies and that proper nutrition and having a optimum immune system makes a big difference in one’s outcome. My cancer may be the results of toxicity having smoked 18 years (I quit 22 years ago), stood under planes spraying DDT in the 60’s/70s, poor diet over the years with packaged and fast food, undiagnosed hypothyroidism, no proper “good” fats, etc.

Hi, my name is Mike Riso and I was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma on April 14, 2024. I'm totally holistic and already 23 year vegetarian and meditator. Just giving you the heads up that I will be the first person I'm aware of to completely rid myself of this disturbance that caught me by surprise at age 63. I'm very introspective, and have dug deeply into natural healing methods. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Much love, Michael.
