Cancer Free a Second Time – Featured Healing Story

Updated: Nov 9, 2023

After being diagnosed in 2015 with Stage 3 Cervical Cancer and Hypothyroidism, Nancy decided to look for non-traditional forms of treatment. After surgery, lifestyle changes, and a bit of soul-searching, Nancy now has no evidence of disease.

This is her story in her own words.

In general, I used robotics surgery, a nutritionist, and a trainer [to heal]. I changed my lifestyle and decreased my stress. Diagnosed November 2015, I spent the first year trying to find help from someone who believed in something other than traditional treatments. Exactly one year later, I found a nutritionist and trainer at Lifetime Fitness who was willing to work with me. I’m now healthier than I have been in years. My last PET scan was August 2016 and showed no visible tumors.

The nutritionist slowly began eliminating processed foods, gluten, sugar, and dairy from my diet. She also helped me find solutions for stress management. My trainer used MAT Techniques to prepare my muscles for training and a weight loss of 60 pounds. Weight loss was difficult for me due to a thyroid disorder of 15 years. I was depressed and very unhappy, but, as time went by, I began to feel hope. The weight loss isn’t complete yet, but since the complete elimination of dairy, processed food, and sugar, I’m losing a pound a week. I walk on the treadmill at an incline twice a week for 45 minutes and twice a week do moderate weight training and core strength training.

[Regarding what may have caused my cancer], I think it’s a combination of stress and poor lifestyle choices and also the HPV virus. My entire life I have consumed a lot of sugar and I feel that has fueled the fire. I sincerely believe that we as a people have lost our connection to the earth and it’s my goal to reclaim that connection.

EDITOR'S NOTE: As of March 2019, Nancy is thriving post-cancer.
