Maja Surowicz

I am the founder and president of the Rakiety Oncology Foundation, and for nearly 20 years I have been supporting cancer patients and their loved ones at every stage of the illness. I specialize in crisis intervention and psycho-oncology, and I gained my experience working in oncology wards and in hospices for children, adolescents, and adults. For the past 10 years, I have also been the person answering our Foundation’s support hotline.

I hold a master’s degree in Special Education from the Maria Grzegorzewska University, a postgraduate diploma in Psycho-Oncology from SWPS University, and a Certificate in Crisis Intervention from the Polish Psychological Association. I am currently completing a master’s program in Clinical and Health Psychology at SWPS University and 4-year-long training at the School of Psychotherapy in the integrative and systemic modality.

My work focuses on an integrative approach to health. I am a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology and a graduate of Dr. Preeti Agrawal’s School of Conscious and Healthy Living.

I take a holistic approach to supporting patients, implementing what I call “Cancer Project Management”—treating cancer as one of many life projects which, once structured with a clear plan, timeline, and resource map, becomes a challenging but manageable stage of life.
