In 2022 my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma and 30+ tumours. I was part of his initial three person team brought together to help process, plan and begin his healing journey. My role included being a sounding board, help him tune into his intuition, introduce mindful practices, provide energy, calm his nervous system, introduce techniques to aid in releasing emotional blocks and support his navigation between the western medical model and alternative approaches. 12 months on and to my brother’s credit, his only remaining tumour is smaller than a pin head. It is early days we know but it is a magnificent turn around and he is back physically engaged in the sports he loves. It was my brother who introduced me to the work of Dr Kelly Turner and the 10 Key Healing factors. As a certified Radical Remission Coach I can work with you to identify which of the 10 factors are your priority, assist you build your team, introduce practices that optimise results, enhance your understanding of your intuition and guidance system, work with you to release repressed feelings, emotional blocks and build resilience. I am a Certified Radical Remission health coach and workshop facilitator, a Wisdom of the Whole trained coach, and a Laughter Yoga Leader. Before this radical change in direction my work life included financial roles in the oil & gas industry; policy and communications with local government; management roles in several service businesses and not-for-profit organisations; and business coaching, business ownership and investing in property, shares and start-ups. I am also the mother of two adult daughters; and I love living in Taranaki, New Zealand, where every road leads to an adventure. I was originally diagnosed with Stage II, ER+, HER2- breast cancer in 2017 and underwent a mastectomy, radiation and hormone treatment. I chose not to have chemotherapy. Then in early 2020 I was diagnosed with Advanced or Stage IV breast cancer (MBC), with metastases in my bones; and a year later lung metastases were also found. Thankfully early in my diagnosis I read several wonderful stories of recovery from cancer, and once I got over the initial shock of the diagnosis, I came to believe that “cancer is not a death sentence, it’s a wake-up call.” Now after a mixture of conventional treatment (ovarian suppression and an aromatase inhibitor), repurposed drugs (Jane McLelland’s How to Starve Cancer protocol), and all the Radical Remission Healing Factors, my metastatic cancer is stable to improving, and I am feeling healthier and happier than I have in years! I look forward to working with clients as they seek clarity around important decisions, make the most of their opportunities, and find the wisdom they might not realise is already within them. These books contained all the information I wish I had when my dad was diagnosed with lymphoma. I graduated with my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 2003 and worked over a decade and a half as a clinical pharmacist. When my dad was sick, I stepped forward to use my background knowledge and skills to help. As I advocated for him throughout his year of treatment, I realized the need for others to have advocates. I looked around at the patients in the hospital rooms next to him and I wondered who was looking out for them. Unfortunately, the answer in most cases was no one. This led me to open Peace Advocacy Group in 2017, where my partner and I serve our clients as private patient advocates.
