Bio

If you have Cancer, or another chronic disease, you’re not alone and there is always hope. Our families all seem to be affected at some stage in our lifetime.

We’ve been through this journey personally and understand how it feels. Twenty years ago we lost my father-in-law Stan to advanced cancer, and we felt powerless in knowing how to help. My father has significant heart troubles too, so we were concerned about the family history.

Over 25 years as an optometrist, I experienced patients overcoming the odds, and was curious why some people could adapt, so over time focussed on learning more.

Our paradigm on what cancer and other diseases meant changed on our learning journey. What once seemed a journey of fear and uncertainty became an opportunity to adapt, grow, and thrive.

We made changes to our own lifestyle, and my wife and I became certified in nutrition and coached workshops with a local cancer trust.

Before Optometry, I’d done a Master’s in Science and worked doing cancer and biochemistry research, so I had a good understanding of biological processes.

The mind-body influence on our health has always interested me. I was fascinated how this is highlighted in the 10 most common healing factors used by cancer survivors in the Radical Remission research. The message that healing is possible is wonderfully hopeful.

Dr Turner’s research inspired me to become a certified Radical Remission Health Coach and Workshop Instructor. We founded Wainui Wellness to empower others to apply these factors in our integrative approach to addressing disease in a supportive community.

We’d love to hear your story and help you on your healing journey.
